Rethinking the Record Weight

The SERENE Stabiliser is designed to control micro-vibrations at the record surface, a source of interference often left unmanaged by conventional record weights and clamps. Using Stack Audio's Tension-Activated Particle Absorption (TAPA) system, it manages this energy without relying on added mass, preserving the natural openness and air of the recording.

How the SERENE Controls Vinyl Vibration

The SERENE Stabiliser addresses micro-vibrations through a hybrid damping system combining a tensioned membrane and particle absorption. A central hub sits over the spindle while the aluminium body applies even pressure across the record label, creating controlled tension within the membrane. This tension dissipates vibrational energy directly, while simultaneously increasing particle excitation, allowing the internal particles to respond more freely and absorb what remains.

Drawing on Stack Audio's AUVA technology, TAPA (patent pending) uses lightweight rubber particles to dissipate vibrational energy through interaction, converting it into heat through friction rather than reflecting it back. This removes a layer of interference at the record surface, allowing the stylus to track more naturally.

Why Record Clamps and Weights Can Fall Short

While a record weight or clamp can help flatten a warped record, it also changes how vibrational energy behaves at the record surface. By adding rigidity, it can restrict natural energy dissipation, potentially masking detail and reducing the system’s ability to resolve low-level information.

Tuned Vibration Control for Vinyl Playback

The SERENE Stabiliser follows a different principle. Both the record and stylus are lightweight, responsive elements, and the stabiliser is designed around that same behaviour. Conventional mass offers a blunt response to a precise problem. TAPA provides a tuned, controlled path for vibrational energy to dissipate naturally, engineered specifically for the vibration profile of vinyl playback. Energy is controlled, not constrained, reducing masking at the record surface and allowing the system to resolve more of what the stylus finds, with improved spatial definition.

What spindle length does the Serene Stabiliser accomodate?

The Spindle insert of the Standard Stabiliser is 14mm, and the larger model is 23mm. This covers a broad range of TTs.Β

My turntable manufacturer does not recommend using record weights, can I use the Stabiliser?

The Serene Stabiliser does not rely on weight to be effective, it weighs in at 95g and utilizes a dual action patent pending tech to enhance performance. This design aligns with manufacturers guidelines on minimizing additional weight on the motor & bearings.

Is this compatible with suspended turntables?

Yes, the vast majority of our testing was conducted on our office LP12, as mentioned above, the lightweight build will not negatively interfere with suspended TTs.

Does the Serene Stabiliser have a settling in time?

The Stabiliser is very much a ‘place and play’ item. The silicone element of the Stabiliser acts as a ‘trampoline’ for the particles within. No settling in is required.

Will the Stabiliser work with my vertical TT?

As the Stabiliser is not a threaded item, we do not recommend use with a vertical TT.

Is the Stabiliser covered by your money back guarantee?

Yes, the SERENE Stabiliser is covered by our new, enhanced 60-day money back guarantee. If you are not impressed with the enhancement provided, we cover any return shipping costs.

Will there be a model that accomodates for longer spindes?

We now have a longer spindle model available.

Does the Stabiliser flatten records?

The Serene Stabiliser will not flatten records as much as ‘weighted’ pucks. If your sole intent is to flatten records, this is not the product for you.

How does your 60-day moneyback guarantee work?

You have 60 days to audition the product from the day they arrive. During this period, you can evaluate the product and decide whether to keep it or return it. Refunds will be processed within 3 business days of receiving a returned item. Stack Audio covers all return costs.
